April 28 seminar will feature Indian publisher’s dramatic monologue
Naveen Kishore, an Indian whose parents fled from Lahore at the time of Partition, will present a South Asian Studies Program seminar in the form of a dramatic monologue titled “My life in the arts, publishing and design—a brief rumination about nothing” on Monday, April 28 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in 1117 University Capitol Centre. Throughout the spring the State Historical Society of Iowa at 402 Iowa Ave., Iowa City is featuring Time/Space, a collection of mixed media works by Candida Pagan. Pagan frequently incorporates aspects of performance into the creation of artist's books and other works on paper. The two bodies of artwork in this show feature letterpress prints, monoprints and drawings, and sculptural paperworks revolving around the development of and use of time.

This class will be a practical introduction to the both traditional and non-traditional techniques that are used for tooling on leather. We will sample boards to practice on as we learn about the materials and techniques.

Adam Larsson, Conservator, Uppsala University Library
2014 marks the 30th year of the UI Library Conservation Lab! We begin a year of celebratory events starting with an evening lecture.

Pantone Postcard Project Reception
The Pantone Postcard Project reception will be held from 5-7pm in the Commons, the first floor gallery of CSPS in Cedar Rapids, IA, USA. Linotype University, an annual rendezvous of operators and machinists, is on again this week (Sept 29 to Oct 5). It is held in Denmark Iowa about 80 miles south of Iowa City.
