Suzanne Glémot is an artist and bookbinder living in Iowa City, IA. She previously worked in the fields of book conservation and library preservation in Iowa City and in Washington, DC. She started teaching in workshop settings in 2021, and taught at programs like the Maine Media Workshop, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and San Diego Book Arts through 2025. Suzanne earned an MFA in the book arts from the University of Iowa in 2020, completed a degree in library science (also at Iowa) in 2019, and holds a BA in studio art from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.

She makes one-of-a-kind design bindings, artists books, and limited-edition prints in which she often uses embroidery, stenciling, trace monotypes, and a lot of small, hand-cut shapes (known as “onlays” in binding terminology). Across these techniques, Suzanne is often drawn to questions about how and why we remember events, characters, narratives, and family histories. Her current projects are inspired by headlines about extremophile fungi in museum collections and by representations of faraway nebulas.
