We are pleased to report that the work of second-year MFA Candidate Sonia Farmer has been longlisted for the 2018 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature—the foremost literary prize in Caribbean literature. Infidelities is one of three poetry books published this year that was selected by the judges. In selecting these three books, the judges noted “we were thinking of the representation of the materiality of the book itself and book art traditions in the Caribbean as part of the books’ meaning, as well as the fusion of local themes with international experimental approaches to form and voice, and the voices for our point in history going forward.”

Sonia Farmer is a writer, visual artist, and small press publisher who uses letterpress printing, bookbinding, hand-papermaking, and digital projects to build narratives about Caribbean space. Prior to her studies at the UICB, she completed a degree in Writing at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. A citizen of the Bahamas, she is the founder of Poinciana Paper Press.
