The selection committee behind the fifteenth Carl Hertzog Award for excellence in book design clearly appreciates the range of work emerging from the UI Center for the Book: faculty and graduates won three of the five places in the contest. Printing specialist Sara Langworthy claimed first runner-up with her work “On Physical Lines,” while graduate Kimberly Maher (MFA 2014) took second runner-up with “Two Lives.” For “Anatomia Botanica,” Radha Pandey (MFA 2014) shared Honorable Mention with another artist. Administered by the Friends of the University Library at the University of Texas, El Paso, the Hertzog award was created as a biannual honor to acknowledge the art of fine printing, encourage work by new and established artisans and honor the craftsmanship as well as the visual and physical elements of books. More information is available here. Well done Sara, Kim, and Radha!
