Gather is a new exhibit on view in the K.K. Merker Gallery from October 14th through the 28th. 

In Gather, I read silently or aloud to an audience, simultaneously folding the pages into origami peace cranes, creating a physical object of the “read” book in a storage jar. The transformed books were all suggestions; some from offhand comments that piqued my curiosity and some inspired by gifts on my bookshelves at home with little notes written on the inside covers. Each book recommendation, intended or not, is an invitation for growth, and a gift. Gather has stained my fingers with the printing ink of old paperbacks and has given me more books to suggest to people for a better understanding of multiple issues.
