A research team led by Timothy Barrett, director of papermaking facilities at the UI Center for the Book, analyzed 1,578 historical papers made between the 14th and the 19th centuries, as part of a three-year project to better understand paper composition and conservation. The team has now made the research available at the website "Paper Through Time." Funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the Kress Foundation, and the University of Iowa, the project investigated sample papers without destroying them in the process. To learn more about Tim's remarkable advance in paper history, check out this press release or go to the website itself.
