A collaboration between UICB calligraphy instructor Cheryl Jacobsen and John Downey of Legacy Bindery, The Gospel of Jesus was recently completed. The book was illustrated and calligraphed on vellum and it was bound in a modern variation of a medieval sewn boards binding. Commissioned by a private collector, it is a playful and free take on an earlier, more traditional work. Photos and detailed process photos of the binding can be found on John’s blog.
