Radha Pandey (MFA 2014) will present the W. Goudy Lecture in Book Arts at Scripps College in Claremont, California, on September 28, 2017. Her talk—“Striking a Balance: traditional craft in contemporary practice”—will discuss how she incorporates her interest in paper and print history into her current work. The talk will cover her research in the field of papermaking and her artist bookwork, as well as her finding a balance between research, environment, history, art, and aesthetics. Following her presentation, Pandey will lead a one-day workshop on Islamic-world papermaking, working with participants in using natural fiber and authentic tools to create sheets of paper.

Radha Pandey is Visiting Assistant Professor of papermaking at the University of Iowa Center for the Book for the Fall of 2017.
