With gratitude to Professor Julia Leonard, who has served as director of the UICB in the last two years, we're excited to welcome Associate Professor Sara Langworthy as she steps into the director's chair. Prof. Langworthy's work explore the intersection of traditional letterpress technologies and contemporary applications, combining hand-set type with images generated from photopolymer, hand processes, and experimental print techniques. Her artist book Sidereal, an evocation of wonder at the vast scales of stellar space and time, was awarded the Minnesota Center for Book Arts Prize in 2020. As she takes the baton, Professor Langworthy looks forward to building upon the UICB's rich history as a center for combining art, craft, and scholarship, fostering new generations of  artists and scholars with distinctive visions of the book's contributions to art and culture.
