Congratulations to UICB MFA Candidates Lisa Miles and Michelle Moode! Lisa and Michelle were recently awarded Caxton Club Grants. The Caxton Club is an organization located in Chicago devoted to “the literary study and promotion of the arts pertaining to the production of books.” These grants of up to $2,500 help sponsor graduate students in the Midwest for a range of book-related projects. Past recipients at the UICB include Anne Covell (MFA 15), Radha Pandey (MFA 15), and Amy Richard (MFA 16). Miles will use the award to support her 2017 MFA thesis exhibition which will feature an interrelated triad of handmade artist books that explore themes of identity and mythology. Moode’s funding will help her work on an artist book about searching for antlers in Wyoming.
