On Thursday afternoon, September 20th, for a talk on "Multilingualism and Post-Anglophone Fiction," the English Department will host Rebecca Walkowitz, Professor of English at Rutgers University, author of last year’s Born Translated: The Contemporary Novel in the Age of World Literature (Columbia UP) and, from 2006, Cosmopolitan Style: Modernism Beyond the Nation.
She will be followed a month later, on Thursday, October 16th, with a lecture on the monumental audiobook version of Joyce’s Ulysses by Matthew Rubery, Professor of English at the University of London, Queen Mary, and author most recently of The Untold Story of the Talking Book (Harvard UP, 2016), as well as 2009’s The Novelty of Newspapers: Victorian Fiction After the Invention of the News.
