Join us Wednesday, November 19 at 3:00pm in E105 Adler Journalism Building for an afternoon lecture with artist, designer, educator, and Fulbright Visiting Scholar Jamie Murphy @thesalvagepress

Murphy will share insights into his ongoing artists’ book project CARBON. From new woodtype, to diamond infused papers and exhaust-soot-ink pochoirs, in this talk Jamie will discuss the project's origins, research, experimentation and the multitude of collaborations and processes employed in the making of the book.


Jamie Murphy is an Irish artist, designer, educator and current Fulbright Visiting Scholar at UICB. He operates under the imprint of The Salvage Press, making books with particular attention to concept, materials and fine letterpress printing. At The National College of Art & Design his focus with students is on book-making and typographic experimentation. Jamie has exhibited and spoken broadly about his work and has been the recipient of several major international awards. His books reside in private, public and institutional collections across the globe.
