The Ann Lucia Hewitt Mottl Prize is awarded to a UICB student in their final year of the MFA in Book Arts. The Prize supports the UICB’s ongoing commitment to writing as an essential part of the Book Arts curriculum and, most importantly, recognizes a student’s commitment to and pursuit of writing as an integral part of their work.
The prize is awarded based on: the student’s excellence in the craft writing; their development as a writer / publisher / proponent of creative writing over the course of their studies; and, their dedication to sharing the joy of writing in the UICB and larger community.
The selection committee consists of UICB faculty. The honor comes with a monetary award of up to $1,000.
