Center for the Book faculty member receives international designer binding award

Emily Martin, UICB instructor in artist's books and paper engineering, has been selected as one of 27 prizewinners from a field of 250 entrants in a major international competition. There are multiple prizes and the exact nature of the prize awarded to Emily will not be known until June 12th, 2013 during an awards ceremony at the Bodleian Library Oxford, England. Exhibition judges included<

  • Richard Ovenden, Deputy Librarian of the Bodleian Libraries 
  • Timothy Ely, Book Artist and Binder, Washington State USA 
  • Katinka Keus, Conservator and Bookbinder, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 
  • James Brockman, Fellow of Designer Bookbinders, UK 

A color catalogue and touring exhibition of all of the finished bindings is planned.
